Russell Pacific Provides Solar Modules, Allowing Kona Brewing Company to Transition to Solar
In 2010 Russell Pacific supplied Sunetric with 880 Trina solar modules for the Kona Brewing Company’s new solar system. The installation, comprised of 260 watt modules, generates 900 kW per day and provides 60% of the brewery’s power needs. With a commitment to sustainability, Kona Brewing Company utilizes their PV system to save money while reducing their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Given the current cost of electricity, Kona Brewing Company is predicted to reduce their energy bill by $100,000 per year. Additionally, Sunetric estimates that over the next thirty years Kona Brewing Company’s new solar system will prevent 7,730 tons of carbon dioxide gases from being released into the atmosphere. These savings reflect Kona Brewing Company’s belief “that the future of the Earth depends upon how businesses and individuals treat the Earth.”
Founded in 1994 by a father-son team in search of the perfect beer, Kona Brewing Company’s mission is to create fresh, local island brews made with spirit, passion and quality. With an emphasis on protecting Hawaii’s pristine environment, the brewery turned to Russell Pacific to provide the solar modules that would allow the business to transition to solar power.
